HairGurl Summer Affair...It's Set!!!

Houston get ready!!! Because on August 6th, we're taking over with the 2nd Annual HairGurl Summer Affair! :D

This year we will be celebrating healthy hair at the Next Door Bar & Lounge 
Come hang out with the lovely ladies of Houston as we chat about hair, hair, and oh yeah hair. ;-) If you have products to swap, bring them! You guys already know there will be gift bags. There also may be a giveaway. I'll keep you guys posted on that.

Summer Affair Update!

Hey ladies! Sorry about the delay on the event details. It's been a little frustrating planning the Summer Affair this year. So the date is set for Saturday, August 6th early afternoon. I'm still ironing out the details on the location, but I should have everything determined by the beginning of next week (including the exact time frame). Thank you so much for your patience! This is just some music I would like to play at the event....Music sets the tone at any event. Do you ever have those songs where you purposely archive in your brain for that time when you'll throw a party? Or is it just me?? lol!

Event Space/Ideas For HairGurl 2011 Summer Affair

Are you ready??!! I know I am. New city. ;-) Houston style. I'm soooo ready. It's no secret I'm a natural (4 months!), but the summer affair will not be a 'natural hair event'. The Summer Affair will always be for ladies who are all about obtaining & maintaining healthy hair whether you're relaxed, natural, weaved, etc. We can all learn something from each other. ;-) For more on that, see this post.

Last year, the Summer Affair was in D.C. While only 2 other ladies besides myself attended, we still had a wonderful time. I blame myself. I should have promoted the event wayyyy more than I did. I just didn't want to over promote & get on folk's nerves. Ya know? So I guess in the process I under promoted. Not a good thing, but I learned my lesson. So here's what's going on. I'm looking for a chic, cool place in Houston to host the 2011 event. Most likely a (clean) restaurant that has a room that will do it for free or a low cost. We may only need a table depending on how many people email me with interest of coming. Please let me know if you know of a place. So far I haven't had any luck.

The affair will be on one of these dates: July 16, 23, 30 or Aug 6, 13. These are all Saturdays. Let me know what you think in the comments or you can tweet or facebook me.

2010 HG Event in Photos!

So as you all know I threw my very 1st HairGurl event last Friday!! :D I woke up excited on Friday. Unfortunately, due to running around with the hubs I arrived to my event late. : \ I really didn't want to arrive to my own event late...how trife. No worries though. Ashley from Pigmented Pretty was there waiting & I'm so glad she didn't say "screw this" and just leave, lol. Thanks again Ashley! ;-)

All in all the HG event was a success! As you can see, there were just 3 of us...but we had a ball! It was my 1st event so I didn't really expect a lot of people. I plan on doing HG events every year from here on out. ;-) So don't feel bad if you weren't able to attend. I may just be coming to your city. ;-) I'm also hoping to plan another one in Houston, TX in Sept. or October maybe. Exciting news: The hubs and I are moving from VA (DMV) to Houston, TX...tommorrow!

We've been busy packing and throwing things away. It's not a surprise that we've been planning the move for months. I can't believe it's actually happening. If you recall about 6 months ago we moved into our basement apartment to prepare for the big move and save money. I wrote about it here. :-) And now it's really happening!!! We're going on a week long road trip on our way down to H-town. I'll be tweeting along the way and posting hair updates. Speaking of hair, I've been so mean to it the past couple of days... : \ One word: HEAT.lol....I definitely need to trim. Right now I'm dc'ing. I plan on leaving it alone for a few days. And now that I've gotten a new camera I can finally start posting videos...someone requested them awhile back. Let me know if you're interested in me posting hair videos too in the comments section.
