1st Time Flat Ironing My Natural Hair!

Tired face...
I'm late posting this, but if you follow me on Twitter you've already seen pics of my newly flat ironed hair! This past Friday, I flat ironed my hair in lieu of celebrating me being 8 months natural. :D I told ya'll last week that I was gonna do it...and I did! :D Boy, that was the longest night ever. I was so tired. I didn't start prepping my hair until 12:30-1am (was waiting for Khlo-Child to go to sleep) I ended up finishing around 4am (i think). I don't know if you ladies can tell, but the ends of my hair were anything BUT straight. Chile....I really should've watched a few YouTube videos on how to effectively straighten natural hair ends. It is NOT as easy as relaxed hair I'll tell you!

the edges felt wonderful & so smooth! As you can see my hair is around the length it was when I started my hair care journey.

Here's the breakdown:
1. Clarified my hair with VO5 Herbal Escapes Clarifying Shampoo
Clarifying made my scalp feel WONDERFUL! It's been way too long since I last clarified. It's great to do this before a flat iron session because it removes product buildup from the scalp & hair. Perfect for creating light, bouncy hair! :-)

2. Dc'ed with Mixed Chicks Deep Conditioner for about 2 hours. ( won a gift set back in April...)

3. Applied Aphogee Keratin & Green Tea Restructurizer & Garnier Fructis Anti-Humidity Smoothing Milk. I realize now that I should have applied either more of the Smoothing Milk or added an extra product. The Smoothing Milk gave my hair a silky feeling though.

4. Sectioned off the hair & began flat ironing with the GHD. Love this flat iron!!! Don't think I can say that enough! Remember my review?? I've written about this flat iron several times. It was just as amazing on my natural hair & made my hair feel so silky. Had I used the comb-chase method, I'm confident the entire length of my hair would have felt just as great.

After I was done flat ironing, I didn't wrap my hair. It was just too thick & the ends were curly so the wrap wouldn't have been that effective anyway. I simply wrapped my scarf around my hair & finally went to sleep. I took a shower the next day & the somewhat straight hair I had became extinct. LOL

Will show you guys the style I came up w/ in the next post!!! Very easy to do!
For a next peek of the style visit the Facebook page...It's the hairstyle in my profile pic. ;-) There's also some on Twitter...

TWA: Easy Way to Create a Curly 'Fro (Video)

Another video! :D You've all seen my pics of my curly 'fro that I've been doing since I bc'ed. I've been meaning to do this video for awhile & now that my hair is growing past my twa stage, this was the perfect time to post before my hair became to long. I get so many compliments when I wear my hair simply like this...

Futhermore, my 8 month natural anniversary is tomorrow so....i'll think I'll be flat ironing! ;-) I keep going back & forth on whether I'll do it or not...even tweeted asking other naturals how long they waited. lol....Okay right now, I think I'm gonna do it. I'm either going to do it on Tuesday or this coming weekend. Get ready to see some pics if i do!!! Oh & there should be no question on which flat iron I'm gonna use. (hint, hint)

GHD Curls!

Hey HGs, Just got back from my trip to Memphis yesterday and I had sooooo much fun! :D I love being around my family, but it always ends too soon. : ( I've never really gotten used to being away from my family. Never. On a bad note.......I curled my hair on Saturday and Sunday with the GHD. : \ lol, I wasn't supposed to be using heat to achieve curls, but.......I did. #ohwell The GHD creates some of the prettiest curls I've ever seen. :-) Yes, it's a flat iron, but you can curl your hair with it. It's all in the wrist! Check it out. ;-)
I'm just hoping there's not a lot of heat damage..... Make sure you are following me on Twitter & Facebook for more of my ramblings about hair and anything else I want to talk about. :-)

GHD Precious IV Styler Review!

I don't know where to begin with this review. Amazing flat iron. Just amazing. I flat ironed my hair this past Friday for a friend's wedding on Saturday. I clarified my hair with VO5 because I wanted to strip away any buildup that would interfer with the GHD products. I deep conditioned with my new Silk Elements Mega Cholesterol Conditioner. :-) The smell of it reminds me of the few times I've gotten my hair done at beauty salons. Nice smell. (will talk more about that in another post).
As you know from this post, the GHD styler came with the GHD Miracle Mist & the GHD Thermal Protector. I was a little nervous about using the Thermal Protector because I'm used to the Aphogee Keratin & Green Tea Restructurizer giving me such great results. I'm always wary about using a new heat protectant because of the bad ones I've run across. I put those feelings aside and used both the Thermal Protector and the Miracle Mist. I didn't use my go-to/ultimate staple VO5 Strawberries & Cream. If you follow my blog, you know I use this every time I wash my hair. The perfect leave-in. :D However, I did put my coconut oil in my hair.

Air drying took forever! I'm buying another blow-dryer next month. (yes, i still haven't bought one *looks around*) I don't use them often and that's why I've been procrastinating. Times like these I long for them. : \

So here are some quick facts about the GHD
-heats up in seconds
-switches to sleep mode automatically if not used for 30 minutes
-100% ceramic plates
-advanced ceramic heaters that are the same size as the plates (no hot spots)
-styles hair through heat, rather than tension
-seals the cuticle for brillant high-gloss results

Another fact about the GHD is that it doesn't have a variable temperature range. The flat iron heats up depending on your individual hair type and condition. Basically, the temperature is set based on your hair. Niiiccce. What flat iron do know that does that? The average temperature ranges between 370-380F. So after reading about it a little more, I sectioned off my hair in 3 sections and started flat ironing. The flat iron is so cute because it makes a little beep when it turns on. It heats up fast. Let me apologize to my FHI in advance for what I'm about to write. The GHD just glides through my hair ya'll. No snagging. No nothing. It didn't really feel like I was flat ironing my hair. It's a very gentle tool. My hair felt very satiny. It also felt extremely conditioned and soft. :D I was like, huh? My hair was so shiny & swangin'! I have to have the swang! lol And I must say the thermal protector and the miracle mist worked very well together. Basically, the GHD is a wonderful flat iron!!! The best I've ever used. :-) I see why they are known as the best by stylists and celebrities.

(sorry for the blurriness) I can not say enought great things about this flat iron. It truly is a wonderful styler. I recommend it to everyone. For more information, you can check out their website: http://www.ghdhair.com/us/ Did you guys know GHD stood for "Good Hair Day?" ;-) You'll definitely have one with this flat iron. As a matter of fact, you'll have a "Great Hair Day!"

Note: GHD sent me this styler at no cost to review. As always, my reviews are based on my honest opinion. Thank you.

I Love the GHD IV Styler!

If you follow me on Twitter & Facebook, this is old news to you, but I tried my GHD flat iron! It.is.so.AMAZING. I'm so serious. It's way better than my FHI. It even feels uncomfortable typing that because I lov(ed) the FHI. : \ I told everyone I knew about it. Every time you see photos of my flat ironed my hair, that was the FHI's magic. That was before the GHD..... ;-) I'm going to type up an official review and post it tommorrow with photos of my hair. Here are a few teasers. :-) Make sure you are following me on Twitter & Facebook for more of my ramblings about hair
