2010 Hairstyle Appreciation Day

(This is me around the beginning of my hair journey. I was deeply in love with braid-outs. I couldn't wait until that color grew out & now I miss it.: \)

What a cute idea! Hair Style Appreciation Day is on April 30th. I'm definitely going to participate in this.... Hair Gurl style. I'd never heard of it, but now that I know about it I'm down! ;-) Let's make this fun. I'm going to wear one of my favorite hair styles on that day. Who wants to join me? V-Day Hair Update....lol

Valentine's Day Hair!

The hubs and I are packing for our move so we're really not going to do anything special for Valentine's Day this year. This has got to be one of the worse moves we've ever had. The snow really ruined our plans to move this weekend so we've pushed it back to next weekend. We don't want to spend any unnecessary money. We'll probably just stay in and watch a movie or something. However....I still WANT to do my hair. I guess I just want to get cute. lol. Right now, I'm 8 weeks post. My hair seems to be doing very well. I've really been hands off with it. The weeks are just flying by. I'm going to wash and dc tonight and then possibly flat iron or prep for a braid-out. I still don't know. I'll post pictures tommorrow. I'm definitely feeling side swept hair right now....

Firing My Lazy Bun!

I'm tired on this bun. No rhyme or reason here. I just twist my hair around the band until I can't see my hair isn't hanging down. I've been rocking it for the past couple of weeks. I've been wearing it down when I go out, but Monday-Friday this is how I wear it. Crazy right? That's it!!! No more... I'm currently making a list of new styles I'll be trying... (don't worry, I didn't forget about Alicia Keys' braided mohawk!) -K.D.

A. Key's Braided Style

Okay! I am determined to do this style. Have you ladies checked out this style?

A. Keys wore this dazzling style at the American Music Awards a couple of weeks ago and I've been loving it ever since! It's basically a braid going towards the front of her head instead of the back-a twist to the ordinary french braid.

I'm going to try this out very soon (with my own little twist on it of course : ). I think this look is fab! FAB!

After All That Cooking.....

This is what I did to my hair for Thanksgiving..... I co-washed it and put it in a ponytail....lol. I was wayyyyy too tired! I didn't even care about doing anything to it at that point. I just wanted it out of the way. So there it is....my Thanksgiving hair! lol....

My Air Dried Ponytail

I wore these curly ponytails basically most of the summer and I loved them! I love the way they look and how low maintenance they are. I co-washed my hair last night, applied my leave ins, put it in a ponytail and then took a nap on it (without a scarf)....so some of the curls flattened out. It's usually curlier than this. I may wear my hair like this to work tommorrow or do a braidout....still trying to decide.

Create Sexy Side Swept Hair!

Hey gurlies! Check out my sexy new do'. :D I'd been wanting to try this style for awhile so I did this past weekend when I went out of town. This hair style is hot and I will be doing it again! If you want to try this out, check out this video that I used as a guide. Her hair came out great so I had to try it!

Nia Long's Hair!

I bet you guys thought I forgot about posting today.....I didn't. :-) Today was just such a busy day for me. I'm sitting here at the computer with aching feet from running around most of the day. Moving along-Remember to get your comments in for the Aussie giveaway! The contest ends tonight at 11:59 eastern time. Anyway, there was a silver lining in my extremely long day. When I got home, I saw my new issue of Essence in the mailbox. Nia Long's on the cover!!! She has always been one of my biggest role models and she looks absolutely beautiful.

Here are some more pics of her at the screenings of Chris Rock's Good Hair. I really like the way she changes it up and wears her real hair out sometimes. She's such a beautiful and talented African American woman. I really would like to meet her one day....oh well. :-)

My "No Heat Curls" Length Check!

So here I am at a Congressional Black Caucus reception in D.C. If you wanna get this look check this link for information on how to create it. You can really tell how my hair has grown by comparing the photos. I can't wait until my next length check-which will be at the beginning of November. :-)

Wedding Hair!

I'm still trying to decide on how to wear my hair on my wedding. I want to wear it down, but I also love side chignons. :-) I'm just looking for a pretty simple style that won't taken a lot of gel, spritz, etc. What do you guys think of these styles?

Revisiting My Braid-Out Pony....

I thought I had more pics of the front, but I didn't....Here's what I could find... Here's how I created the front... 1. grab one side and pin up at the top (with a bobby pin) 2. grabbed the other side and pinned it as well. 3. Voila!

My Braid-Out Pony!

Here's a braid-out I did last month. It's my Joan Clayton look! I liked when Tracee Ellis Ross would wear her hair in a low curly ponytail on Girlfriends. It always looked so chic. Here's my version on a 2 day old braidout.... So turn that braid-out into a new hair style!
