My Date With Co-Washing

Have you ever heard of co-washing? If not, here's a quick lesson... Co-washing is washing your hair only using conditioner (hence the co). Supposedly, some conditioners have cleaning agents in them just like shampoo. This is a very popular method women use to avoid the harsh detergents of shampoo. You simply wet the hair, massage the conditioner throughout, and then rinse it out...just like you would do with shampoo. I co-washed last year a couple of times, but needless to say I didn't like it. My scalp didn't feel very clean and my hair felt weighed down...maybe it was the conditioner or my method? I have no idea....but I'm willing to give it another try before a write it off forever! lol Fast forward to last night... I co-washed with sweet smelling VO5 Strawberries & Milk yesterday and I loved it! My hair is uber moisturized and very, very soft. My scalp doesn't itch like expected it too...lol. I just knew I would be plagued with a dirty scalp! I must admit that I did miss the soft foam and bubbles that comes with using 'poo...But all is well and I will be doing this more regularly. Quick Tips: -Opt for a moisturizing conditioner like VO5, Suave, Pantene Relaxed & Natural Conditioner, etc. (I made the mistake of using a cholesterol conditioner the first time...not a good look.lol) -Really work the conditioner into the scalp and hair and let it sit for about 1-5 minutes for added softness! -Be careful in the shower with this, conditioner is mucho slippery in the tub so step carefully! -Get Ready for Soft, Moisturized Hair!!! So what are ya'll waiting for? Grab that conditioner and get to work! Happy Co-Washing! :-) Photo credits: http://www.growafrolonghair.com/

Great post & tips. Cholesterol as a cowash...wow thats different. That would definitely weigh the hair down. I would love to try V05, but they aren't sold here :-(

What did you do with your hair after you cowashed? I currently cowash once a week, but start doing it every other day, but I need to know what I should do with my hair. I can't do a twistout that much.

Yeah that cholesterol was VERY different...never again. You can order V05 online. :-)

DeJaVu, I put my hair in a low pony and put my scarf and then went to sleep. The next day I put moisturizers and oil on it and then it went in a bun.Sometimes I do a braidout...i love those!
