Product Review: nuNAAT Karite' Special!

I received these nuNAAT products a few months ago. This is the Karite' line which boasts shea butter in all of the products. I'd never heard of nuNAAT so of course the product junkie that lives inside of me  was curious to try them out. ;-)

Masque Reparateur Cream Mask:
From the jar: The Cream Mask Shea Butter designed to finish the dry, damaged & broken hair. It's formula ultra-rich with Shea Butter, nourishes intensely, in-depth hydrate, repairs & regenerates capillary fibre of the root of to the points. Smooth, sheath & glosses your hair with finds health & vitality.

My Experience: This mask is very creamy & goes onto my hair very well. However, I didn't reap much of a moisturizing benefit from it. Shea Butter is about the 12th ingredient on the list so I'm guessing that's why. After rinsing, my hair pretty much felt the same as it did before I applied the mask. It has a relaxing, nice smell to it though.

Combing Cream:
From the bottle: Without rinsing, the Combing Cream Shea Butter is a daily care which nourishes and hydrates capillary fibre, the product have nutritive properties and revitalizing action. It softens, protects, facilitates the disentangling and bringing softness and brightness.

My Experience: Now, I like this stuff! Very moisturizing. This cream is excellent for my dry hair. I use it on wet & dry hair as a moisturizer. It works well on both. However, the 'combing' cream is not a 'detangling' cream at all. Just wanted to clarify this because the bottle summary & actual name may make some ladies think it's a detangling agent. It is not. Well, at least for my hair.

*Before heading out to Wal-Mart one day the hubs & after slatering my hair w/ the Combing Cream, the hubs remarked that my hair smelled good. So he liked it! ;-)*

Nourishing Shampoo
From the bottle: Very soft & creamy, the Nourishing Shampoo Shea Butter carefully washes & disentangles the dry, damage, & broken hair. It's formula rich in Shea Butter strengthens, revitalizes, & hydrates capillary fibre. You hair becomes very flexible, brilliant, & easy to comb.

My Experience: Great shampoo for clarifying the hair if you have a lot of build up. Didn't really moisturize my hair at all. The shea butter is way down on the ingredient list. I think it's no. 14. My hair was squeaky clean after using this shampoo!

Observation:
I noticed that in all of the products, shea butter was very far down on the ingredient. Just a few ingredients from the last ingredient. Too far down to make that much of an impact on my hair. I was very surprised to see this as the whole line revolves around the benefit of shea butter. Also, the smell of this line is not overpowering at all. All of the products have the same nice smell to them. A big plus for me.

******************************************************************

My next nuNAAT review will cover these 2....

Soin Reconstructor:
From the bottle: The Reconstucteur Shea Butter is a care conditioner enriched out of shea butter specially designed for the devitalized & breakage hair. It reconstitutes the internal structure of capillary fibre & reinforces the film of natural protection of the hair. The hair finds force and brightness without losing its flexibility & of it's sofness.

AntiFrizz Therma Active:
From the bottle: Revolutionist, the Antifrizz Therma Active Shea Butter smoothes carefully, sheath, & hydrate & glosses the hair. It facilitates the brush & protects the hair from the heat of the drier. The hair is smoothed, flexible, silky & luminous.

My Experience So Far: Still reviewing this because of my lack of heat usage! I will say this though. I mistakenly used this the other day thinking it was the combing cream & surprisingly my hair was very soft. I'll be using the Therma Active on my next few tension stretching sessions & maybe even when I flat iron next.

Let me know if you've tried nuNAAT! Oh & I just noticed that Walgreens is having a $2.99 sale online for the Karite' Special line! That's definitely a great deal if you've been wanting to try out the Karite' line for yourself. Click here for the link. Don't forget to check out your local Walgreens to see if there's an in-store sale as well.

Urban Therapy Twisted Sista Products Review

I've been wanting to do this review for awhile now. So here I sit at 2am in the morning making it happen! #newmama I love blogging ya'll. It's such a getaway for me so I'm wide awake. haha. You may remember a few months ago when I posted about Urban Therapy Twisted Sista asking anyone if they'd tried it. Urban Therapy is a London based company that recently made it's way over to the US. I've used the Curl Activator & the Different Strokes quite a few times so I'm armed with my review. Haven't tried out the Blow Dry Creme because I haven't blown out my hair....yet. ;-)

Different Strokes Serum Says ($4.49/1.01 fl.oz): Instantly eliminates frizz for both straight & curly hairstyles.

Ingredients:
Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Cyclohexasiloxane, Isopropyl Myristate, Fragrance, Benzophenone-3, Tocopheryl Acetate, Phenyl Trimethicone, Benzyl Salicylate, Eugenol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Limonene

Directions: Apply serum into palms of hands and smooth through wet hair to defrizz. Style as usual. For instant shine smooth a small amount over dry hair.

My Review:
The first time I used the Curl Activator, I wasn't impressed at all. Great smell though. After washing my hair, I simply applied it to my wet hair & rubbed it throughout while defining my curls. After my hair dried, I noticed that my hair didn't feel as moisturized as usual. I used the Curl Activator alone without the Different Strokes Serum. I always like to see how a product works without adding anything added to it. It definitely has a thicker consistency than most products I use on my hair. No biggie. This was the 1st try...I usually give a product 3-4 chances before putting it on the shelf to collect dust.

So the 2nd time I used the Curl Activator, I actually clarified my hair first & then applied it. My hair felt much better, but the true difference happened on the 4th of July. Let me just say this. I usually don't use a hair product that doesn't seem to be working for my hair on a day when I know I'll be taking a lot of photos (i.e. Christmas, my birthday, etc) So this was a big deal to me. So I washed & dc'ed as normal. This time I decided to do something different. I added the Different Strokes Serum to my hair after the Curl Activator. Ya'll that made all of the difference in the world. My hair doesn't like the Curl Activator alone. It soaks it ALL up. I have to apply the serum. I'm going to to seal with an oil next time to see how it does....

Here are some pics with both products in my hair....

Any ladies who use the Curl Activator alone???

Note: Urban Therapy sent me their products at no charge. I'm not obligated to write a positive review in return. My review consists of my honest opinion of the products.

Cutting Hair/New Products

So....I'm thinking of taking off an inch of hair every month until I'm natural. Next week I'll be 5 months into my transition :D (oh yeah!) & I'm so anxious to see my natural hair. I'll also be measuring my new growth each month to see how long it is & updating ya'll on HairGurl. My hair is really coming along. :-) New products alert!: I've been using L'Oreal EverStrong Reconstruct Shampoo for weeks. It's sulfate-free too. The sweet folks at Longhairlovers sent me some products to try as well. Annnnd.....if you follow me on Facebook you know that recently I picked up the Suave Professionals Almond & Shea Butter Moisturizing Conditioner. I may be leaving some stuff out... So as you can see I have a few product reviews coming up! ;-) Stay tuned to see if they're a yay or a nay. Pic from Thirsty Roots

Organizing My Hair Products!

Okay guys...so we're settling into our new apartment. We don't have as much room as we did in our old apartment, but we're working with what we've got. :-) So.....no linen closet here to house my many hair products. :-( Here's an old bookcase (now the hg product case) I'm using for my products. It's holding up pretty well....Everything is not on here. Some products are in the bathroom. The black
box on the bottom shelf holds my beloved FHI. Ha!

Here's the train case where I keep my hair ties, hair rollers, etc. It's not big enough..... : \ Image and video hosting by TinyPic Image and video hosting by TinyPic When we buy a house I would love to have a mini beauty supply room or area to hold all of my hair stuff. That would be so NICE. :D Something like this just with longer and wider shelves....
