Grammy 2011 Hair Faves

Happy Valentine's Day! I didn't watch the Grammy's last night (like apparently everyone else in the world), but this morning while perusing online I saw Melanie Fiona's Grammy hairstyle. So chic! If I didn't have a twa, I would definitely do this updo! And I'm loving the braid that's going around her forehead.
And I can't forget about Esperanza Spalding's 'fro! LOVE it. She won best new artist! So those were my favorite based on my online research, lol. Did you see the Grammy's? Whose hair did you like?

Thanksgiving Hair- A Complete Bust!

A complete bust. I basically wore the same bun I wore about a little while ago....I attempted to where the rollerset but it looked like complete crap! This pic was taken the day after Thanksgiving, but this is basically the hairstyle I wore. I don't have pics of the back.... : \

HG Hairstyle Headliner: Jaye Carisma

In the past few weeks, I've been pleasantly surprised a few times by some of my favorite bloggers featuring my hairstyles on their websites! Needless to say, I wasn't expecting this at all. I really had no idea ladies liked and were even trying some of my hairstyles out. :o It made me feel so appreciated. :-) Thanks ya'll! I love coming up with new ways to style my hair & trying out looks I've seen on other ladies. I get bored easily! lol, So 1st up is Jaye Carisma!
Here's Jaye Carisma from The Feisty House showing us her lovely braided classy bun!
I have to say...her braid is wayyyy neater than mine usually is! lol

Man the shine from her hair is seriously blinding! #hairenvy lol

This is my favorite pic. Her hair looks so shiny & healthy!

Have you tried a HairGurl hairstyle? Take a pic and email it to me at thehairgurl (at) yahoo (dot) com (just trying to keep the spammers away). Please put Hairstyle Headliner in the subject. Show me how you rock it and you'll become one of the Hairstyle Headliners; a new feature here on HG. Thanks again to Jay Charisma for featuring one of my hairstyles on TFH! :D Don't forget to check out The Feisty House. Jaye & Koos have amazing hair AND great style!

Side Summer Braid & Picked An Event Name!

I still can't figure out how to convert my video on my phone to an acceptable video to be uploaded to Blogger. : \ But moving along, I've created another summer style! I'm on a roll this summer. I came up with this style a few days after seeing a photo of Jessica Alba on the web. I don't think her hair was in a side braid, but it gave me the idea to try this. :-) I can't find the photo of Jessica anywhere now. I've even tried googling her name with side braid and I can't find it! I did find one that's very similiar to the one I saw on her....it was pushed a little bit more though.

I may try this one too....hmmm. Very cute!

Here's mine....

I pulled all of my hair over to the side of my head, did a big french braid and tucked it under. I also put a few bobby pins in the initial braid to hold it down more. This could be used a good protective style too!

AND I've finally picked a name for my 1st HG event! :D I've settled on the 2010 Hair Gurl "Love Your Hair" Summer Affair. :-) I commented earlier on Facebook on the fact that it rhymes. lol...Now I can get on with the rest of the details. I'm so excited! Thanks to everyone who commented on the initial post with interest! In other news, you all know about my new hair color right? Well I read on the internet cinnamon can lighten your hair. So I tried it over my colored hair....and it indeed does lighten the hair! ;-) Details coming up in my next post!

My Braided Classy Bun

This is pretty much one of my main go-to hairstyles right before my relaxer. Well maybe not right before. I usually start doing this style a few weeks before my relaxer. I do it when I just want to give my hair a rest. I sometimes do it on freshly relaxed hair too like here. It's easy to do...I just add a braid to the classy bun. I'm addicted to side braids. They look so chic to me. Then I put the bun towards the side. I'm going to do a step-by-step tutorial for this bun...I'll try to post it this weekend, but in the meantime visit Serenity Breeze's Fotki. I learned of the style through her. :-) If you want to see how the braided classy bun looks from the front go here.
The last 2 photos are the classy bun with just a side bang. That's how it looks around 8 weeks post...very hard to lay down! It was a little messy in these photos. The classy bun is pretty much a hairstyle staple for me! It's a classic, timeless look. :-)
