Mother's Day Hair & Style

I spent the day with the hubs & Khlo Face at Bayou Bend Collection & Gardens in Houston where we toured the former historic home of philantropist Ima Hogg. Boasting 19 rooms filled with beautiful art & furnishings, this home was beyond immaculate! The hubs & I were joking about what we would do if this were our home. Dreaming is free. ;-) Chile, I would have dinner parties all the time! I wish I could show you photos of the inside, but we weren't allowed to take photos inside the home...However, you can view pics on their site here.We took our time traveling throughout the house & the 14 acres that surrounded it. Yes. 14 ACRES. All that land. Shout out to the people who keep that land looking gorgeous! Definitely a beautiful & relaxing Mother's Day. (It's been over a year & I still can't believe I'm somebody's mama, lol)

I'm demolished this cake & it was so good!! Hubs got it from HEB for $6. Believe it or not, this was all I wanted. :D #extremecakelover
Khloa's card & yep I wore that button all day...haha

Side shot of the hair. I was so frustrated w/ my hair that day I just pulled it back into a pony...

BACK!

How did you spend Mother's Day?? I'm still new to this, so I forgot Mother's Day was coming until a few days before it! lol I still always think of my mama for Mother's Day. :-)

Khloa's 1st Birthday & Hair Talk

Hey guys!

Sorry for the lack of posts! I've been so busy over the last week getting Khloa's 1st birthday shendig details together! She's having a birthday cake smash photo shoot on her birthday which is April 5th & then a birthday party on the 7th. I'm SO EXCITED!!! :D Ya'll, I'm so engulfed in the details of her celebration...everything has to be just so. I want the shoot & her birthday party to scream, "Khloa!" Ya'll know how I do! If you don't, take a gander at her 1 month shoot (which continues to be one of my popular posts) We also have family coming in town! :D  Some may say, "She won't even remember the party/cake smash." This could be true, but she'll have these photos to look back on for the rest of her life. :-) That's extremely important to me.

I've been rocking a curly 'fro for like a week now. I know I said I'd be giving them a break due to the ssk's, but I couldn't help it! This style is just toooo easy & it's a time saver! This is why it will forever be a staple of mine. Flat-ironing my hair (for real this time!) sometime in the next week or so to do a length check & cut out those dang ssk's...I may also do a trim depending on how my ends look.

Khloa Is Becoming A HairGurl :-)

1. Last month, I placed her 1st barrette in her hair. She finally has enough hair to clip into a barrette. I have been WAITING for this moment! Or so I thought....

2. I use hair products in her hair now. :D I waited until her 9th month to introduce her hair to hair products. No need initially. Then, I noticed her hair becoming a little dry.  CARA B Naturally sent her some products. Not me! lol Her! (even though I use them too) So far her hair loves the Moisturizing Hair Mist & the Leave-In Conditioner/Daily Moisturizer

She's growing up so fast! Meanwhile, the hubs & I are struggling to keep up with her little active self. Also, her 1st birthday is coming up in April! :D Didn't I just have her yesterday??!

Rock Climbing Hair

Can you find my hair??? lol!

Me climbing!
The hubs helping Khlo Face climb. :-)

Bopee Bo!! She kicked off her shoes per usual...

I'm new to rock climbing....and ya'll I didn't make it to the top at all! LOL I'm going to try again one day though. I'm obviously still on a twist out high from 'Fro Fashion Week. I wore a twist out that immediately frizzed up before we left the house due to my hair still being damp. Then, it was raining when we got to the place. I used Beautiful Textures Whipped Curl Creme. I can be a bit heavy handed so because of that I used way too much, but after my hair absorbed the excess the next day it was extremely soft. Have you guys used any of the Beautiful Textures line?? I only hear great things about it. Can't wait to try the rest of the line! :D

Happy New Year! (KhloaTV)

Hey guys! HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays! Wanna know how I celebrated the new year? Khloa had her 1st cold so the hubs and I stayed in caring for her.  And guess what my reward was? I got sick too. What a way to start off 2012. lol! I can't remember the last time I was sick, but I think it was in '09. I'm a grumpy sick so I just try to stay away from everybody. I don't know how my husband deals with me. lol

Now that I'm feeling a little better I thought I'd post one of the videos we did of Khloa to start the new year off right! She's 9 months ya'll!!! :D It literally seems like yesterday I was writing my delivery post. Hope you get a laugh or two out of the video. haha

She's Growing...

Khlo Mania is 10 weeks now. And on another note, we should've picked a better spot to take pics. Not the men's draws' department in Macys, lol. So random.

Khloa's Newborn Shoot

I couldn't resist. I just wanted to share with you ladies some photos from her newborn shoot. These were supposed to be taken in her 1st week, but as you guys know she was in the hospital for almost 3 weeks. That didn't stop me from going ahead with her 'newborn' shoot though! Ha! I'd been planning this shoot for too long to not go ahead with it. She's 2 months & 1 week now, but these photos were taken when she was a month (a little over 5 lbs). She's much bigger now! The hubs posted these on our site, but I wanted you ladies to see them too. :-) There are more on our site though...All photos were taken by Aubrey Torrey Photography. She did a fantastic job!

Mini-HairGurl

When she was still in the hospital...

I'm starting her out early! This was the 1st time I brushed her hair. I think I may frame these. I love to massage her scalp. Lightly though. Actually, it's more like a light caress. She likes that. :-) I can't wait to teach my little Khlo Star all about hair care.

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day! It was the 1st of many more for me.:-)

My Unexpected Delivery Pt.2

Long time no blog, right?! Well, let me hurry up and finish the rest of the story before the Munchkin starts crying. ;-) She does that any time she realizes my full attention isn't on her! lol! So the next morning at 9:51am I had the Munchkin via c-section. She was just as beautiful as she wanted to be! I was so emotional when they yanked her out of me (that's what it felt like). It all happened so quickly from the doctor's appointment to having her the very next morning. As much as I tried to prepare myself for the birth of the Munchkin, I wasn't prepared for this at all! Shortly after the c-section, one of the doctors came in to let the hubs and I know how the Munchkin was doing. She was healthy and the doctor even told us she would most likely be leaving in 3 weeks. YESSSS! I made a mental note of this because at that very second I began counting down. :-) Meanwhile, my obgyn told us she'd be coming home closer to 6 weeks. I was holding on to 3 weeks while the hubs held on to 6...I guess he was thinking that way because he didn't want to be disappointed if she wasn't released in 3 weeks. Not me! I wanted her home & so I kept telling myself she'd be home in 3 weeks. Oh and some of the nurses came in to warn us the Munchkin was as feisty as she wanted to be! Haha. I guess you're never  too young to be feisty.

Later on that evening, my sis, mother, and one of my brothers arrived at the hospital. My blood pressure was still shaky waky so I was trying to keep it down as much as I could....but it was hard. It went up with the slightest emotion that I felt. I wanted to talk, but every time I did it would go up. That night a new nurse came to my room. She looked sooooo familiar. Maybe it was because she was natural? ;-) I thought surely she must have a blog & that's where I'd seen her. So the whole night (when I was awake) I debated back & forth on whether or not to ask her if she had a blog. Finally, at like 5:00am I unsurely asked her, "Do you have a natural hair care blog?" She smiled and said, "No." She said something after that but I can't remember. We had a long, amazing talk about the Munchkin, our dreams, hair, men, just everything! She was such a cool person. (I'm not going to put her name on here unless she gives me the ok) She even gave me some earrings she made! I was so excited I seriously almost cried. It was the sweetest thing.

Aren't they cute?!
newearrings

She definitely made my stay at the hospital 10 times better ya'll. Hopefully, we'll be going for a walk in the park soon. :-) Before this, I'd never been in a hospital overnight. And there I was...officially posted up from Monday night to Friday afternoon. Well, enough about me. On to the little Munchkin. :D She's home now. She's been home for about a week & a half. The NICU had her for a little under 3 weeks so I was right! I went to see her every day while she was there. I brought her my breast milk. I couldn't breast feed her, but I pumped my milk for her. The nurses soon started telling me not to bring in anymore until they told me too. Turns out I'd supplied them with 20 bags that were in their freezer. Haha! I'd initially thought because my tatas were small, I wouldn't produce a lot milk. #wrong I didn't know how much she needed so I was bringing bags every day. Doing that made me feel so much better though. It made me feel closer to her. It was hard having her in the NICU. Now she's lying next to me doing her grunting/straining in her sleep. :-) I still can't believe I'm a mama. The hubs still asks me, "Did you just have a baby?" Partly because the majority of my preggie weight is gone & we still can't believe there's an actual baby in our apartment.

Meet Miss Khloa August (pronounced Klo-uh). She's still a little bitty thing, but she's growing every day. :-)

My Unexpected Delivery Pt. 1

hospitalsocks

The socks the hospital gave me to wear...the hubs has now confiscated them.

Hey girlies! Whew....I was supposed to write this post 2 weekends ago. I really overestimated myself by thinking I would have enough time & energy to post this over that weekend considering I was released from the hospital that Friday (April 8th). The Munchkin is still in the hospital, but I've been breast pumping every 3 hours & taking her milk. Thus, I'm tired EVERYDAY. I've been so anxious to tell you ladies about the arrival of the Munchkin. Totally unexpected. Monday (April 4th), I was scheduled for a doctor's appointment late in the afternoon. I was a few days shy of being 34 weeks preggie. So I texted the hubs while he was in route to the doctor's office telling him he didn't have to come to the doc's appt with me because I wanted him to rest or prepare for the MS 150 coming up. (The hubs participated in the MS 150 Bike Ride to Austin, TX for multiple sclerosis this past weekend.)

So...everything is going as normal. I arrive for my appt. the same as always. One of the nurses comes in to take my blood pressure. Now....throughout my whole pregnancy I have not had high blood pressure. It's always low. However, when she takes my bp it is around 175/120. -_- The nurse looks at me and says, "Okay, that's way too high. I'm going to let you rest for a moment & then come back in about 10 minutes to take it again." I'm thinking that's ok because when she comes back it'll be back to normal. So I laid down and proceeded to just relax. I wasn't worried at all. I just thought the machine made some kind of mistake. When the nurse comes back in to test my bp again it is still around 170. She checked me around 3 times & my bp remained high. : \ My doc comes in shortly after the nurse. It seems that along with my blood pressure being high, my urine also had protein in it. Now I'm nervous....and the hubs isn't there. She explains to me that it looks like I have preclampsia. She instructs me to go to the hospital (which is next door) & head up to Labor & Delivery. What!?! So I'm about to have the Munchkin?? But I'm 6 weeks early! I go to my car & call the hubs to let him know what's happened. We're both laughing because this was the most important doctor's appt I'd had & I told him to stay home. While I'm laughing, I'm still nervous & scared though.

When I get to Labor & Delivery, the nurses are ready for me. My doc called them to tell them what was going on. I'm shaking by this time. The nurses are making jokes....and they're not funny. They remind of the nurses from One Born Every Minute. I'm scared because I have no idea what's going on. I asked one of them if I would be delivering. She said, "Oh most likely you won't be delivering." That seemed to ease my mind. For the rest of the evening, I'm poked with needles & drugged. I was so hungry, but I wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything.  After my doc's appt, I'd planned on going to the grocery store. It seemed like they were running a million tests on me. My bp is being taken every hour. The hubs stayed with me & then went home to gather some of my things. They told us I would be in the hospital for at least 24 hours. And did I mention I hadn't packed an overnight bag yet??? Sigh. While he's gone, my doc comes into the room & tells me I have severe preeclampsia. She tells me my organs are shutting down & the only way to cure preeclampsia is to deliver the baby. My cervix was nowhere near being thin enough to have a vaginal delivery. So she calmly tells me I'll be having a c-section the next morning around 8am. I could not believe it. My nerves were completely shot.

...a whole 6 weeks early! I'm still in the hospital recuperating and she's already been dubbed as "feisty" by the nursing staff. ;-) #likemotherlikedaughter
