Natural Resources Salon to Launch Live Stream Series
For Immediate Release: Natural Resources Salon to Launch a Live Stream Series to Educate Women on Healthy Hair
"Naturally Live" will feature demonstrations, discussion forums and more
Houston, TX, November 6nd, 2011- On Tuesday, November 15th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. CST, Natural Resources Salon will launch their first live stream series titled, "Naturally Live." The 3-part series will focus on healthy hair maintenance, easy, do it yourself styling and will act as a discussion forum for hot topics related to natural hair. Users can participate from wherever they are, using multiple social media networks and can send in questions leading up to the event.
Salon Owner Tamika Fletcher said, “We do in-person consultations everyday, email questions and social media inquiries non-stop. I'm ready to start sharing our knowledge with a broader audience, in a more intimate way."
The first show, titled "The Basics of Transitioning," will focus on how to transition hair while working in corporate America as well as how to properly comb out hair. The staff at Natural Resources Salon are passionate about raising awareness about hair loss prevention, particularly among children and practicing good habits from the start. Fletcher said that the key is to start by simply knowing how to properly comb out your hair. “Too often I've seen women become discouraged in their transition because they feel like their hair is too difficult to manage. I want to show them that there are ways to make the process easier, while still saving you time and energy,” said Fletcher.
The discussion forum will give women an opportunity to share about concerns and challenges they've faced in their transition. For instance, Fletcher recently appeared on Houston's KHOU Ch. 11 sharing about her hair pat down by airport security. The goal is to continue discussions such as this during the live streaming event. The remaining portion of the event will feature an interview with a woman who's currently in transition, a live demonstration and a Q & A with Fletcher. Questions can be submitted live, during the event and leading up to it on the Natural Resources Salon Facebook Page and Twitter Account.
Register and sign up for reminders at www.livestream.com/naturalresourcessalon. Natural Resources is on Facebook at Facebook.com/NaturalResourcesSalon and on Twitter at @Natural_Mecca. The series Twitter hashtag is #Naturallylive.

My Roots
My color seems more vibrant in person. It looks so dark in these pics. #ohwell These pics (taken when I flat-ironed) are for LaQT who requested to see more pics of my roots. The color is growing out....I don't think I'll be re-coloring the roots because I like how it looks. When I color, I don't touch up the roots as my hair gets longer. The roots being dark brown never really bothers me. I think it looks fly! ;-) I may throw a semi-permanent over the color to brighten it up a bit though. To see more of my roots check out my recent YouTube videos below. :-)
Now I'm off to eat...FINALLY. It's funny how a little baby can alter your eating schedule so much!

4 Things I Learned About My Natural Hair This Summer
Things I learned about my natural hair this summer:
1. There were no ill effects (breakage, etc) from me applying the Textures & Tones hair color to my hair. The dyed hair is just as healthy as the part that isn't. :D I'm gonna continue to monitor my hair...
2. I get bored easily so creating hairstyles is a MUST. I thought when I went natural I would just rock curly 'fros all willy nilly, but by August I was already ready to change it up! lol I think I'm gonna put a hairstyles tab at the top of the page as I've come up with a lot over the years. ;-)
3. My pre-poo/co-wash detangle routine is the business. I never realized how helpful this would be to my regimen.
4. Postpartum shedding doesn't last forever! #thankgod
So summer is really over??? It's always hard to say 'see you next year' to my favorite time of year. :( This is random, but.....am I the only that believes summer should start at the beginning of June & not towards the end? Because I'm a good sport....
Welcome Fall!
**Please check out this post & tell me how we should celebrate HairGurl's 3rd Birthday!!! :D What should we do??!!**

TWA: Easy Way to Create a Curly 'Fro (Video)
Another video! :D You've all seen my pics of my curly 'fro that I've been doing since I bc'ed. I've been meaning to do this video for awhile & now that my hair is growing past my twa stage, this was the perfect time to post before my hair became to long. I get so many compliments when I wear my hair simply like this...
Futhermore, my 8 month natural anniversary is tomorrow so....i'll think I'll be flat ironing! ;-) I keep going back & forth on whether I'll do it or not...even tweeted asking other naturals how long they waited. lol....Okay right now, I think I'm gonna do it. I'm either going to do it on Tuesday or this coming weekend. Get ready to see some pics if i do!!! Oh & there should be no question on which flat iron I'm gonna use. (hint, hint)

My Pre-poo/Co-wash Detangle Method
Recently, I've been a big fan of pre-pooing/co-washing. This whole summer actually. I'd done both of these on relaxed hair & it didn't impress me at all the majority of the time. Now that I'm natural, I MUST detangle my hair. It gets way too tangly for me to skip detangling sessions so that's why I started incorporating more pre-pooing & co-washing. I'm already going through postpartum shedding & I definitely don't wanna add to more hair being lost, lol! I should also mention that I don't wash my scalp per se with the conditioner though. I only apply it to my hair & then rinse it out. Both of these methods are great for detangling! I do them about 2-4 times a week. I still make sure I wash my hair at least once a week! Here's what I do:
1. Simply slather my hair w/ the conditioner. Sometimes I add evoo to the conditioner.
2. Detangle my hair with only my fingers. This takes about 10-15 mins I think.
3. Put on my grocery bag. ;-) Note: I don't keep as many as I used too... Sometimes I put my Hair Therapy Wrap on over the bag.
4. Leave it in for as long as I want to. I tweeted a few days ago that I was going on hr. no. 22 with the condish in my hair so yeah...lol.
5. Rinse.
6. After rinsing, I either shampoo my hair & dc as normal or I just rinse & apply my leave-ins. Hence, me using both terms.
True story: When we moved to Houston in September, I went to Dollar Tree to get some body wash. When I got home, I realized that instead of picking up the White Rain body wash, I'd gotten like 3 bottles of White Rain Lavender Vanilla Conditioner. Hair on the brain?? Guess so! Being the true #hairgurl I am, I just kept them! :D Hey, you can NEVER have to many conditioners!
So this is the conditioner I've been using the most for my detangling sessions. Mainly, because of the Dollar Tree mix up, but it's been working well to my advantage. :-) I love how my hair just soaks this stuff up. I even play in my curls a little while it's in my hair.
I still have my trust VO5 conditioners ready for a comeback. I'm experimenting with the Strawberries & Cream condish to see how well it moisturizes the 'fro. I may even re-visit the Suave conditioners as well. We'll see.....:-)
Make sure you are following me on Twitter & Facebook for more of my ramblings about hair and anything else I want to talk about. :-)
